Core Concept

A commentary on the rulings of the Rosh that fills the gap: the orders Moed and Nashim were left without a commentary, and he wrote Korban Netanel on them, in which he explains the Rosh’s words, clarifies his readings and brings sources for his statements. The commentary was printed next to the Rosh in the Vilna Talmud.

Biography

Head of a yeshiva in Prague and rabbi of Karlsruhe, a native of Stühlingen in Germany, who studied in the yeshiva of Rabbi Abraham Broda. After the expulsion of the Jews of Bohemia in 1744 he moved to Germany, and in 1750 he was appointed rabbi of Karlsruhe, where he completed Korban Netanel on the rulings of the Rosh, printed in 1755. He also wrote Netiv Chaim on the Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim, and Torat Netanel, responsa and sermons.

The Road to Sinai

The archive doesn’t yet record an unbroken road from Rabbi Netanel Weil to the chain of transmission: the trail reaches back to Maharash of Neustadt and stops there.
