Halakha and halakhic ruling, Tosafot
His book follows the French school: it rules on halakha in concise language on a variety of subjects, does not deal with the customs of the communities, and ends with indexes summarizing the chapters. It also includes a special chapter on “the laws of the Land of Israel”, and many halakhic authorities based their rulings on it; the Beit Yosef quotes it often.
A scholar and halakhic authority, one of the Tosafists and the foremost disciple of Ri HaZaken, who lived and worked in France, among other places in Paris. He is known as the Baal HaTerumah after his book Sefer HaTerumah, a collection of halakhic rulings in concise language written at the beginning of the 13th century. Near the end of his life he went up to the Land of Israel, in the time of the aliyah of the Tosafists, and died and was buried there.
